Mind, Business & Systems: New Beginnings

I have spent the last few years living in two worlds that do not always talk to each other: the world of systems engineering and the world of business and leadership. On top of that, I have been on my own journey with psychology, mental health, and values. This blog is my attempt to bring those worlds together and make sense of them in public.

Right now, I am a systems engineer at General Motors and also an MBA student. That means my days are a mix of requirements, architectures, and test plans, plus cases, frameworks, and group projects. It is a lot to hold at once, and writing here is my way of slowing things down long enough to actually notice what I am learning instead of letting it all blur together.

Over time, the journey has given me many learnings and lessons—some from successes, many from mistakes and uncomfortable moments. It feels important not to keep those only in my head. By writing them down here, the aim is to grow from them more intentionally, and if any of these reflections happen to help even one other person on a similar path, that would be a bonus that makes the effort even more worthwhile.

The topics will wander, but they will orbit a few themes:

  • How business really works, from the perspective of someone learning it in real time rather than teaching it in hindsight
  • How systems engineering shapes the way I see companies, teams, and even my own habits
  • How mental health, psychology, and values show up in everyday decisions at work and school
  • What leadership looks like in the messy middle of a career, not just on conference stages and polished profiles

This is not a blog of polished answers. It is more of a learning log. Some posts will be reflections on MBA classes or projects at work. Some will be about wins, and some will be about stress, doubt, and the days where things do not go as planned. The goal is to be honest enough that “future me” can look back and see the full picture, not just the highlight reel—and to leave a trail of lessons that others can pick up if they find themselves facing something similar.

If you are reading this, you might be someone who is also juggling work, grad school, growth, and mental health. Or you might just be curious about how systems thinking, business, and psychology intersect. Either way, you are welcome here.

The exact shape of my career is still unfolding—whether that becomes consulting, leadership roles, or something unexpected. What is clear is the desire to build it on clear thinking, better systems, and healthy values. This blog will be my record of trying to do that in real life, sharing the learnings along the way in case they make someone else’s path a little clearer.

Thanks for being here at the very beginning.
